3 Tips to Create a Stress-Free Environment
Your home should be a stress-free environment. But living through a pandemic and the rules associated with it, can be more challenging especially since work and school are now more closely integrated in your home. If you’re working from home, attending online school from home, and managing a family, you may find that juggling all the different parts can be stressful. We often don’t realize that the line between work, study and personal time can get blurred; and to some extent the pandemic has made it more difficult to find that healthy balance between work, school and play.
Below are 3 simple ways to help de-stress your environment at home:
1. Create a Designated Workspace
Working on your couch may seem like the comfy choice, but you should clearly differentiate your leisure space from your workspace. If you need a breather from your chaotic life, you’ll know when to leave your designated workspace for a break. This will help cultivate an atmosphere where you can relax. Knowing when to clock off and spend time with family and spending alone time is a great way to starting drawing the line between work/school and personal life.
2. Take Deep Breathes
Start your day with some breathing exercises. Although it may not seem like much, taking slow deep breaths, even only for a couple of minutes can dramatically help release some stress and tension. Once you wake up, take a few minutes and start practicing this exercise. Focus on the feeling of stress and anxiety while inhaling and then slowly exhale all those feelings. This is a great fresh start to your day, leaving your worries behind.
3. Declutter your Home
Physical clutter can impact how you function in your day-to-day life. Some may say they thrive in a messy environment, but there’s little evidence that can support that. There has been various studies that show how clutter around you can cause stress without you realizing. Research suggests by reorganizing or removing unnecessary clutter in your living room and work environment can help reduce the impact of stress you feel at home. The clutter can be distracting, making you less productive.
It’s important to carve out time for yourself, from work and or school to help maintain a healthy mind and a good work-life balance. There’s no doubt that there are many factors that may cause stress. However, your home should one place that can help release some stress. By making these 3 small changes, you can gradually help create a stress-free environment for your everyday life.
